Best Practices: A Successful Mobile Team

We get questions all the time about equipping teams in the field with mobile devices. Should I buy my team devices or let them use their own? What happens if they lose service? How can I limit their data usage?

It can be a daunting idea to have your team using mobile devices in the field, but the advantages over pen & paper make it well worth it. Just make sure to follow these 3 simple best practices:

Chapter One.png

  1. Always have a backup plan. You never know when a device could shatter, service may drop, a device may die. Make sure to have back up plan! An email in the morning with a PDF of work orders will make sure your team knows what to do in the event of bad service. A solution like SingleOps can even help automate those emails. And when all else fails, it’s never a bad idea to have some old paper forms available.
  2. Buy some phone mounts. Keep your team safe when they are in their vehicles with a phone mount. This is the cheapest change you can make that will have a huge impact. With this, your drivers aren’t distracted and they can keep both hands on the wheel!
  3. Keep data usage low with an EMM Service. (Enterprise Mobility Management). There are many services that let you control what is done on the devices your team uses. A few are: Jamf Pro, Air-Watch, and Mobile Device Manager Plus. By only allowing certain actions on the mobile devices you can make sure that your team stays on task and does not burn up all the companies data.

We hope you find these tips useful and if you have any tips of your own drop them in the comments below! If you are not yet using a software check out this post on why you should think about making the switch. Or if you feel that you’re ready to take a look into SingleOps book a FREE demo today!
